Chiefs’ Dynasty in Danger? The Truth About Their Performance Under Pressure!

The Kansas City Chiefs were one of the most dominant teams in the NFL last season, finishing with a stellar 15-2 record. A key factor in their success was their ability to win close games, going a perfect 11-0 in one-score contests. However, while this impressive record showcases their resilience, it also raises concerns about sustainability heading into the 2025 season.

Eric Williams of FOX Sports pointed out that while Patrick Mahomes has a history of excelling in clutch moments, it’s unlikely the Chiefs will replicate their perfect record in close games next year.

“Kansas City finished 11-0 in one-score games last season on its way to a 15-2 campaign, taking the top seed in the AFC. Although Mahomes is one of the best closers in league history, it’s unlikely the Chiefs can repeat that success in 2025,” Williams said.

Despite potential regression in tight games, Kansas City still has several reasons for optimism. The return of wide receiver Rashee Rice, the addition of Hollywood Brown in free agency, and the development of Xavier Worthy should provide Mahomes with more reliable weapons. Additionally, defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo continues to lead one of the league’s top defensive units.

Still, a drop-off in close-game success could mean fewer regular-season wins and a lower playoff seed for Kansas City. Even though they didn’t win the Super Bowl, the Chiefs remain the standard for other teams in the league. However, their weaknesses were exposed in their championship loss, giving opponents a blueprint to attack them moving forward.

With the rest of the NFL improving, the Chiefs must continue to evolve—or risk falling behind.

Patrick Mahomes’ Advice to NFL Draft Prospect Tahj Brooks

As the Chiefs prepare for the 2025 season, quarterback Patrick Mahomes continues to be a leader both on and off the field. Recently, he offered advice to Texas Tech running back Tahj Brooks, a top prospect in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Brooks appeared on the Up & Adams Show, where he shared insights from his conversations with Mahomes.

“His message was really just honing in on the details within summer workouts,” Brooks said. “When you’re in the building, stay in the building. When you’re outside the building, go have fun and take time away from football. But when you’re in, it’s straight work, trying to get better with your brothers.”

Mahomes, a Texas Tech alum, has remained connected to the program and often visits the team during the offseason. There’s even a possibility that Brooks could land in Kansas City if the Chiefs decide to draft him.

NFL analyst Lance Zierlein described Brooks as a “stout runner and workhorse” who has the potential to be a solid contributor at the next level.

With the Chiefs looking to reinforce their roster, Mahomes’ leadership continues to play a crucial role in shaping both current teammates and future prospects.

Analyst: Chiefs Must Do More to Help Patrick Mahomes

Despite the Chiefs’ continued success, some analysts believe the team has not done enough to support Patrick Mahomes—particularly on the offensive line.

NFL commentator Domonique Foxworth recently voiced concerns about Kansas City’s protection for its star quarterback.

“Yes, I watched the Super Bowl. That man (Mahomes) looked like a victim to me,” Foxworth said. “They lost their best offensive lineman, and their answer was to bring in a backup tackle from the 49ers to protect the best quarterback in the league’s blindside.”

Foxworth criticized the Chiefs’ approach to addressing their offensive line, arguing that their efforts have been insufficient. Kansas City has tried to develop tackles through the draft and convert right tackles into left tackles, but so far, the results have been mixed.

“It does feel like they have failed him,” Foxworth continued. “There was one big thing they had to solve this offseason—the offensive line—and they haven’t solved it yet.”

While Mahomes has consistently carried the team with his elite play, the Chiefs’ front office, led by general manager Brett Veach, will need to ensure the roster is built to compete at the highest level.

As the 2025 season approaches, all eyes will be on Kansas City to see if they can maintain their dominance—or if their shortcomings will finally catch up to them.
