The Kansas City Chiefs may not have been the busiest team in free agency, but they have made key moves to strengthen their roster. One of their notable signings is cornerback Kristian Fulton, who inked a two-year, $20 million deal with the team.
During his introductory press conference on Thursday, Fulton explained why he chose Kansas City, highlighting the team’s recent defensive success.
“What stands out to me, obviously, within the past few years – well, obviously being a defensive guy, I know defense wins championships, even though it’s a great offense as well,” Fulton said. “You don’t get to this level in the NFL without a great defense, and the past few years, it’s been put on display. Obviously, being a corner, I like to watch other corners in this league, and they’ve had some of the top guys in the league with their play and their scheme. I felt it was a great fit for me.”
The Chiefs have appeared in three consecutive Super Bowls, with their defense playing a critical role in their success. Fulton, who played for the Los Angeles Chargers in 2024 after four seasons with the Tennessee Titans, brings valuable experience to Kansas City. In 14 starts last season, he recorded seven passes defended. Over his career, he has 51 starts, 32 passes defended, five interceptions, and 201 tackles.
As the Chiefs aim to bounce back from their Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, Fulton is expected to play a key role in their defensive unit.
