Despite a largely disappointing season for Wolverhampton Wanderers, two attacking players have stood out for the Old Gold.
Unsurprisingly, Matheus Cunha has been one of them. The Brazilian forward has delivered ten goals and four assists in 22 Premier League games, including three matches where he has both scored and assisted.
Meanwhile, Norwegian striker Jorgen Strand Larsen has also made a strong impact at Molineux, netting seven goals and providing two assists in 23 league appearances. Despite their struggles, Wolves have managed to score 32 goals this season—an impressive tally considering their low points total. While much of that attacking threat has come from Cunha and Strand Larsen, the club appears keen on bolstering its frontline in the January transfer window.
### Wolves Target Experienced Attacker
Wolves have reportedly set their sights on Portuguese forward Rafa Silva. The 31-year-old is currently playing in Turkey for Besiktas, where Ole Gunnar Solskjaer recently took over as manager.
According to Portuguese outlet V+ TVI, Wolves have made an enquiry about Silva’s availability. It remains unclear whether they are pursuing a loan deal or a permanent transfer. However, should the former Benfica star make the move to Molineux, he wouldn’t come at an exorbitant price—Transfermarkt values him at just £10 million.
That said, his wages could present a challenge. Silva currently earns £160,000 per week at Besiktas, according to Capology.
### Why Rafa Silva Could Be a Smart Signing
If there’s one thing Silva would bring to Vitor Pereira’s squad, it’s experience. The veteran attacker has not only won multiple trophies with Benfica but has also played over 500 professional matches.
This season, he has been in fine form for Besiktas, registering ten goals and seven assists in 31 appearances across all competitions. He made an immediate impact in Solskjaer’s first game in charge, scoring once and providing two assists in a 4-1 Europa League victory over Athletic Club.
With Wolves looking to add more firepower to their attack, Silva could be a valuable addition—provided they can navigate his high wages.
