Wolves Make Move for Besiktas Star Rafa Silva Ahead of Deadline
Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly inquired about Besiktas winger Rafa Silva as the transfer deadline looms on February 3, according to sources in Portugal.
The 31-year-old has been a standout performer for the Turkish club this season, tallying 10 goals and seven assists in 31 appearances. Silva joined Besiktas on a free transfer last summer, signing a three-year contract, and has remained a key figure under new head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who took charge earlier this month.
Since Solskjaer’s arrival, the Portuguese international has continued his fine form, registering four goal involvements in his first two matches, including a brace in a commanding 4-1 Europa League victory over Athletic Bilbao.
### **Wolves’ Transfer Plans Taking Shape**
Wolves have had a relatively quiet January transfer window, with Emmanuel Agbadou being their sole signing following the appointment of Vitor Pereira as manager last month. However, the club is expected to ramp up its activity in the final days of the window, particularly in defense.
Reports indicate that Wolves are preparing another bid for Lens defender Kevin Danso and remain locked in negotiations to secure the Austrian international’s services before the deadline.
If they choose to pursue Silva further, Besiktas will likely hold firm in negotiations, given that the player only arrived in Turkey six months ago.
Before his move to Besiktas, Silva spent his entire professional career in Portugal, representing Feirense, Braga, and Benfica. The 25-cap Portuguese international, who earns £160,000 per week, would provide Wolves with additional attacking versatility, as he is capable of playing multiple roles across the frontline—though he has primarily featured as a second striker this season.
Wolves currently sit 17th in the Premier League after a disappointing defeat to Arsenal, extending their winless run to five matches.
